Colchester Occupational Therapy specializes in providing Occupational therapy assessments
and reports for people with physical and neurological disabilities.
We can provide
advice with regard to independent purchasing of equipment, such as appropriate seating, beds,
toileting needs, bathing/ showering and cutlery.
We can provide written reports in respect
of adaptations to your home including stair lifts, through floor lifts, ramping, bathroom
and bedroom adaptations for wheelchair users and mobile clients.
We also carry out cognitive assessments and provide rehabilitation programmes,
which include home skills accessing the community, leisure facilities and using
transport.
We cover the whole of the Colchester district at present, (if you live outside

The role of an Occupational Therapist (OT) is to listen, provide support, take into
account your environment (e.g. home/work), cultural and social needs in order to
recommend a tailor made individual treatment programme for your short and long term
aspirations. Occupational Therapists advice on how you perform your daily tasks in
the following areas:-
Activities of daily living, (washing/dressing/grooming, /domestic tasks/anything
within your home environment), education, work, play and leisure time. Advice is
also given on specialist equipment/training, adaptations to your home, techniques,
or other treatments that compliment and provide you with the best opportunity for
enabling your rehabilitation and or independence.
